Wasnt in much of a mood to do any Art this week until today.
so I did this quick journal page. I have one more December page to do.
I went ahead last week two pages doing the Hummer in January as I wasn't sure how to do the December pages. But thought this showed the little bit of snow we got and a cute reminder to me about the Ducks.
Wednesday, Con and I went back to the Art Center to get a closer and slower look at the paintings there.
It was such a madhouse on Reception night. I am showing a few I thought were good.
This is one room they show in. There turned out to be close to 200 works of Art entered in this show. Including some Pottery.
I adored this. Look at that face.
Great action. Love that the fox was hiding in plain sight.
I believe this was titled IN MY GARDEN. Very clever piece.
My work of Art standing in the Hallway. LOL
Oh sorry.. here is my work of Art. :))
The farm house with white tree in case you didn't see it last week.
There are lots of rooms off this hallway and some used for Art classes but most are filled with this Art show that will hang until the end of February.
And Last but not least is my good friend Lynn Cohen's book she just self published. Most of you have probably seen it by now, but I just got it recently and LOVED IT. Whats so neat about this book is that I have seen her work grow right from the start when she first joined up with some of us doing the
Drawing a day for the month of October, one year. She asked if she could join even tho she only did Art quilts and didn't draw. Well She draws now and I have seen her get out there in public and do things I wouldnt dare do and do them wonderfully. and now she is an Author. Who knew!! :) This book takes you thru that first year of public drawing in a cute little place she likes to go for Lunch..Taco's Jalisco-- people watching. Something we all love doing if you admit it and she draws them for us to watch-- :)-- and thru that she has made friends with the family that owns it and THE COUPLE that she has drawn over and over in there who love that they are in it.
I got the paper back copy which is nice. The dust cover would be better, but this one opens nicely on my lap while reading it. The story she writes brings you into the book and I couldn't put it down. She tells you how you too can do what she is doing. All it takes is some JUST DO IT attitude and getting in the ZONE.
Check it out if you haven't already, you can see some of the book pages there. The link is below or go to Lynns blog, Getting my feet wet, and see it on her sidebar.

Thanks for sharing your journal page -- how nice to have ducks as neighbors, even if they are invasive. Love the way they lead the eye into the woods. The closer look at the exhibit is very nice, too. Thanks for spreading the word on Lynn's book, too. Her work is vibrant and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteYour ducks are so sweet & wonderful, they are So waddling & you caught a moment with your text. Thanks for taking us to the group show & to your painting too! I know what you mean about openings...What a nice post about Lynn Cohen's book! The Just Do It attitude: I have to work on that one...I admire how she's out there sketching & then so focused to make a completed series/book. As I wrote in my post today, I'm so inspired by you all who share your process & your art, as well as your worlds.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the show - love the ducks in your journal. I just received Lynn's book (also soft cover - thought it was very well put together). Haven't had a chance to go through it - hope to this weekend. I love Lynn's sketches!
