The chicks are growing daily.
I did these a few days ago while sitting and watching them.
They move so fast I have to wait until they are sleeping.
Its so cute to watch.. they scurry about and then flop down on their faces and go to sleep.
We are noticing their tail feathers are growing now.
The Barrd Rock chicks have a black band around the beak.
The Rhode Island red now has the largest wings. The other yellow one.. the Red Sex link has the shortest wings. The all black one is the smallest so far and gets picked on a little more.
The Rhode Island Red is a tad more friendly, but they all are flighty yet.
I quickly finished this today. I am behind. I want to record what we use and when we lost one..which we did so we only have five left. We lost it on the second day. If you go to the post below you can see more pix and journal pages if you havent seen them already, and read about them. I did these live and from memory. so I messed up Annies eyes on the sketch below. My memory isnt to good.. LOL
but it will remind me anyway of the precious moments with the babies because they grow to fast.
HAPPY PAINT PARTY FRIDAY.

I am enjoying your chick stories. It is fun to see them and Annie in your sketches. Annie is such a sweet dog. I am afraid that Luna would have eaten them. I like hearing how they are developing individually. I think you will be glad that you kept this journal as they mature.
ReplyDeleteFun journal pages Cris. Love hearing about them. and Annie, such a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteThe chicks are adorable. I am photographing the baby ducks. I see babies all over the place of every bird. Blessings, Janet PPF

Lovely pages in your journal Cris. These chicks must be growing some. Does Annie still watch them?
ReplyDeleteso sweet, I'm sure your collie is much more mothering than ours, Kiz tollerated Gladys, our chicken to start with, but now they seem to be quite buddies. I love the way the two of them follow me around the garden, really makes me smile. I see you have a good clutch of 'coobies', and how lovely to record them in paintings...
ReplyDeleteDear Chris - I just found your blog...took time to ramble through your lovely pics and read about your new little chicks...I too am a country artist living in Ohio - looking forward to visiting you often. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteThis is precious to see how they grow and develop. I do love Annie bonding with them. They will certainly think SHE is their mother!!! I bet they hang around her when they are large and out wandering in the yard later.
ReplyDeleteIt's an ambitious project, to journal your experience with them! But it is so valuable!
