Its been three weeks since we got our Chicks and they are growing like weeds.
The bin was to small for them now and they wanted OUT.
I opened the top and out flew one of the chicks to sit on the rim.
Another one got on my arm and climbed up it. So we lined the dog cage with card board to keep the shavings, warmth and heads in. Well two out of three is good. The shavings are all over the floor. Groan.
After freaking a bit. Look how big they are now. Emma has the long tail and Lexys is still small.
They proceeded to go crazy over the fluff, They slipped and slid, scratched and rolled having a ball.
Color them VERY Happy.
:)
| These were taken on the 9th. In a smaller bin while we cleaned the bigger bin |
The coop being framed in.
The window is the one we had to replace last year because the glass inside was cracked.
Its a new window but we had to replace the whole thing because of the glass being cracked.
but its sealed and will make a great window for the chicken coop.
Yesterday we spent a couple hours painting the wood white before putting it all together which is easier then doing it all when done. You can see the nesting boxes to the left. The outside will be the color of our house.
Greenish.
Its been lovely the last few days and he hopes to get the front on tomorrow.
Con in his element..
and me in mine.
I set up my art gear in this Arbor/Gazebo that con built
>>> which needs some paint on the ceiling and a cement floor yet<<<
I was working on my Journal pages. It was 65 degrees out.
A perfect day.
:)
Happy Animal Wednesday.
Nice to see how quickly they are growing and their coop will be an excellent des res for them. Your arbor looks so nice, shaded, the perfect place to sit.
ReplyDeleteCris, they are fantastically sweet. You are keeping a wonderful journal here of their growth!
ReplyDeleteYour chicks are so sweet. It is so much fun watching them grow. Your little slice of paradise is wonderful. Wish I could be sitting out with you, sketching and watching chicks grow.
ReplyDeleteWow! Have they grown! They are all adorable....but I love the fact Suzi Q jumped up on your arm... a bond is already forming! (I am sure they will all love you, Con and perhaps their *Herder* Annie!) Is there non-stop *peeping* going on?
ReplyDeleteCon IS in his element...he is so talented - you are one lucky lady!
The *photo journal* is so much fun! All of us are really enjoying it.

Love to all,

ReplyDeleteOur weather has been delicious, hasn't it. Hard to believe we had frost just a few mornings ago.
I saw this yesterday. I must have been busy at work, looked and thought to return to leave a comment. Well, here I am a day later. It is fun watching the growth and development of the chicks and the coop! I especially love Annie's contribution as Mother Hen!
ReplyDeletewow look at these chicks and their posh house, they are I think gonna be well spoiled... :-)
ReplyDeleteThe coop is getting along great and the chickens look so healthy!
ReplyDeleteSo different then the ones who have a poor life here and which have to produce meat and eggs. This is how it should be!
You seem to have much nicer weather than we are having here.
