Hi Hattie here--I know its been awhile for a blog post, but my peeps have been busy lately.
So I decided to show whats been going on around here. It is after all Animal Wednesday tomorrow.
We have lots of visitors lately. this is one family trying to get in to eat our food but so far so good we are keeping whats ours, ours. :)
My peeps have been harvesting their tomatoes and green beans. The sunflowers are all in full bloom which means summer is winding down. :(
This is another view of the Turkey family. The fencing around the veggies seems to help keep them out but this fence they go under or over.
A new project for Con.
They decided the tarp wasn't going to make it thru winter & keep us dry in our pen so we got some plastic ripple roofing put on. We got a nice rain storm recently and it worked very well.
Not willing to sit still, Con is off to pick more grapes. There are three or four vines here. Some white and some purple but all WINE grapes & they have a distinct wine taste. Not good for eating from the vine.
Annie trying to keep cool. That pink thing that's always in her face is laying next to her. She is never far from it.
Of course we girls, ever the opportunists, have to make sure we get some of the falling grapes.
A few more filled this box then turned into----
---This when steamed with two cups left over from the first vine they steamed and made jelly that turned into...
36 jars of jelly plus the 9 jars before. Minus three we have given away already.
These Pears they picked from our neighbors tree minus a few eaten before being chopped--. :)
and turned into 8 jars of Pear Jam.
They do take some time out of their busy day to sit and--
Share their meal with us. If we insist--:)
|And a lot of reading from my peeps new book by Susan Branch, called A Fine Romance, Falling in love with the English country side. It was preordered and signed-- she went to England via the QM2 last year and toured for two months going to Beatrix Potters house in the Lake District and Jane Austins touring the county side and houses, and came home spending the winter HAND writing this wonderful book. I hear its sold out of its first printing already and is on its second printing due out in October. We are now getting to the best part about the critters of Beatrix and her house and land, good for bug hunting all that land. I am sooo enjoying it. :) You can check out her blog at, http://www.susanbranch.com/|
But its not long before Con is up and off to do something else. Well gotta run, I am not gonna be left out on any goodies.
